Meaning:- Bubon (Gr) Possibly From Medieval Latin bubo, from Ancient Greek,
“groin, swelling”
Macedonicum (L) From Macedonia.
General description:- Stout perennial, usually monocarpic. Rootstock, 2-4 cm
thick, with a fibrous collar of leaf remains.
Stem:-
1) Up to 200 cm. with numerous short branches in the inflorescence.
Leaves:-
1) Greyish-green.
2) Lower, 2- to 3-pinnate.

3) Upper, simple or pinnatisect.
Flowers:- .
1) Peduncles, and umbels puberulent.
2) Rays, 12-25, pubescent.
3) Bracts, 5-8, linear-lanceolate, sometimes pinnatisect.

4) Stylopodium, each half about twice as long as wide.
5) Styles, patent or erecto-patent.

Fruit:-
1) 3-5 mm. Ovoid, dark brown with narrow, whitish ridges, hispid-pubescent.

Habitat:- Crevices and ledges of limestone rocks, (0-)300-1800 m.
Distribution:- From N Peloponnisos to the NW borders, including lthe Ionian
Islands; lacking in the NE. - Italy & W Balkan Peninsula. Rare on Crete known only
from the Lefka Ori.
